Cultural and Language Support

Cultural and Language SupportAt VNSNY, we understand the importance of delivering culturally sensitive care and serving the unique needs of all of our patients, and our staff reflects the diversity of New York City. We were the first home health care organization in New York to launch multi-cultural programs to better serve our diverse communities. Today, collectively our staff speak over 50 languages, so we do our best to provide a clinician who speaks your preferred language and understands your religious and cultural traditions.

Our ability to communicate with our patients and their doctors and family members helps everyone involved get the highest quality home health care services. We work closely with our community, hospital, and insurance partners to create specialized services by an interdisciplinary team that will allow you to remain safe and healthy at home.

Our trained frontline staff include nurses, therapists, home health aides, and translators who understand cultural traditions and customs. They are especially sensitive to:

  • Dietary and nutritional practices and their relationship to medical conditions and continuing health
  • Family dynamics in the care of the elderly and those with disabilities
  • Educating patients and families on medical conditions and treatments; they can also supply patient education materials in the individual’s preferred language.
