For generations, New Yorkers have relied on the Visiting Nurse Service of New York. Throughout our history, VNSNY has responded with vision and purpose on behalf of those who need our care. Our founder, Lillian Wald, was guided by her steadfast belief that the health and well-being of her patients and their families depended on the connections forged in healthy communities.
Today, VNSNY remains committed to delivering high-quality, compassionate home- and community-based care to all of our patients. Our offerings encompass preventive health measures, chronic disease management, and care coordination, so that individuals who require care—those who are recovering, disabled, chronically ill, or in need of assistance that cannot be provided by friends or family members—can remain in their homes and communities, safely and independently.
New York has always been America’s melting pot, and our staff reflects the diversity of the patients we serve. In a typical year, more than 42 percent of our patients speak languages other than English. We understand the importance of delivering culturally sensitive care and in explaining techniques or procedures in the language our patients and clients are most comfortable speaking.
To bring you the best possible care, it is sometimes necessary to share your health information with other authorized licensed healthcare providers through a Health Information Exchange. This is only done with your written permission and always in a highly secure manner.
