Project HOPE: Overcoming Demographic Barriers to Hospice Care

Nationwide, African Americans and Hispanics account for just 8.5% and 6% of the U.S. hospice population, respectively. There are a number of reasons for this disparity, but the overriding one is a lack of awareness. To help address these barriers, VNSNY has developed a pilot program in the Harlem section of Manhattan called the HOPE project.
