Volunteers are the heart of our hospice program. They provide that extra level of care and comfort that makes all the difference to patients and families. Volunteering is uniquely challenging and rewarding work. To visit with patients, potential volunteers must attend a twelve-hour training. We offer trainings on weeknights and weekends to accommodate a variety of schedules.
The first step to becoming a hospice volunteer is to call your borough’s Volunteer Manager. We require a phone interview and pre-registration to help prospective volunteers understand the requirements for volunteering for our end-of-life care program.
