Special fundraising events are held throughout the year to support the Visiting Nurse Service of New York’s charitable and community benefit programs so that compassionate care can be provided to the most vulnerable and underserved populations who need it most.
Annually, VNSNY hosts two major fundraising events, including the fall VNSNY Benefit Dinner and the spring Golf Classic. Both events are successful ways for VNSNY to build awareness of our mission and help generate contributions from philanthropic organizations and individuals.
The Visiting Nurse Service of New York 2020 Virtual Gala, “Care You Can Count On—From Those Who Count On You” will celebrate and share content on our event website, www.vnsnygala.org, culminating on Thursday, November 12th. We hope you will support this virtual event to raise funds for our VNSNY Coronavirus Response Fund and our charitable care and community benefit programs.
The 2020 Virtual Gala will include the acceptance of the Lillian D. Wald Award by John R. Greed, Chairman, President & CEO of Mutual of America Financial Group. The award, named after the public health pioneer and founder of VNSNY, is presented each year in recognition of those who have made significant contributions to the health and welfare of others.
The evening will also include a “Thank You to the VNSNY Frontline Responders,” our on-the-ground workforce who have played such a critical role during this COVID-19 pandemic, continuing our more than 125-year tradition of being there for New Yorkers even in the most dire health care crises.

We regret to inform you that the Visiting Nurse Service of New York 2020 Golf Classic, scheduled for August 3rd, has been cancelled.
This decision was not an easy one. As a leading health care organization in New York, VNSNY is committed to ensuring the safety of everyone we’re in contact with, including our staff, our patients, and our guests at VNSNY events. We have thought long and hard about this year’s Golf Classic, and whether we might be able to go ahead with it in the manner that people are so accustomed to and look forward to with such enthusiasm.
As we considered the various factors it became clear to us that, given the need to be as safe as possible and to abide by current New York State restrictions and guidelines, the event should not be held this year. The current spike in COVID-19 cases around the country reinforces our belief that cancelling is the responsible and prudent decision.
We do not take this decision lightly. Besides being a wonderful opportunity to bring together VNSNY’s friends and supporters, this year’s VNSNY Golf Classic was to provide much-needed funds for our Coronavirus Response Fund as well as the VNSNY Veterans Programs. We hope you understand these ongoing needs, and we look forward to greeting you during better times at next year’s outing.
Please contact John Billeci at [email protected] or 212-609-1565 with any questions about the VNSNY 2020 Golf Classic.
On behalf of our entire organization and all the patients and families we serve, we thank you for being a part of the VNSNY family.
