Special fundraising events are held throughout the year to support the Visiting Nurse Service of New York’s charitable and community benefit programs so that compassionate care can be provided to the most vulnerable and underserved populations who need it most.
Annually, VNSNY hosts two major fundraising events, including the fall VNSNY Benefit Dinner and the spring Golf Classic. Both events are successful ways for VNSNY to build awareness of our mission and help generate contributions from philanthropic organizations and individuals.
The Visiting Nurse Service of New York (VNSNY) 2018 Golf Classic took place on Monday, May 21st at a new venue, The Wykagyl Country Club in New Rochelle. The weather was spectacular for what was our sixth consecutive sold-out golf classic! The event, Co-Chaired by VNSNY Board Member Frank Vigilante and EVP Kerry Parker, featured 128 golfers expected to play and enjoy a day filled with golf, brunch, dinner, contests, awards, raffles, prizes and a silent auction.
This year’s Golf Classic raised $260,000 for the Veterans Program from VNSNY Hospice and Palliative Care, dedicated to providing superior hospice care that addresses the unique needs of veterans and their families. Funds raised from the event, in conjunction with last year’s funds, have enabled our Veterans Program to hire an additional Veterans Hospice Liaison.

“Together, We Can Make a Difference”
The Visiting Nurse Service of New York (VNSNY) 2017 Benefit Dinner, “Together, We Can Make a Difference,” was held on Wednesday, November 1st at the Pierre Hotel. The event raised more than $1 million for VNSNY Children & Family Services programs. WCBS – TV Medical Correspondent Dr. Max Gomez served as the evening’s master of ceremonies.
This year marked 150 years since the birth of Lillian D. Wald, founder of the Visiting Nurse Service of New York, and the event featured the presentation of the Lillian D. Wald Award to Bert E. Brodsky, Founding Chairman & President of Sandata Technologies, and to Kathy Hirata Chin, Senior Counsel at Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft. The award, named after the founder of the Visiting Nurse Service of New York, is presented annually to those who have made significant contributions to the health and welfare of others.
The evening also featured an archival video from the VNSNY 50th Anniversary (1943), and recognition of Executive Vice President and Chief of Provider Operations Marki Flannery.
Next year’s event will mark the 125th Anniversary of the founding of the Visiting Nurse Service of New York.
