If your doctor recommends dietary changes, or if you are undergoing treatment that affects your appetite, your home health care nurse may recommend the services of a registered dietitian. VNSNY registered dietitians will evaluate your nutritional needs and develop a meal plan that can help enhance health, based on your medical conditions, and will take into account your personal preferences as well as any restrictions based on religion or ethics. If you or your loved one has or develops conditions that can complicate current health problems, additional dietary adjustments may be warranted.
All VNSNY dietitians are registered with the American Dietetic Association. Each attends on-going, intensive training that is specially designed to address the needs of home health care patients. Many are bilingual or multilingual, and we always do our best to match you with a dietitian who can explain your care in the language you speak most comfortably.
Plus, you’ll benefit from the latest technological resources available. Each VNSNY dietitian carries a laptop computer equipped with special software that transmits information to and from your doctor and other members of your home care team, and allows access to proprietary databases about medications and treatments. Each computer has special security features, too, so you will never have to worry about privacy.
