In addition to providing expertise in research methods, study design and statistical analysis, Dr Rosenfeld works with the Director of Outcomes Analysis and Research and other members of the Center staff to promote and expand the utilization of Outcomes data currently available through the Center’s website, as well as to design sound research design for new data collection activities. Prior to joining VNSNY, Dr Rosenfeld was Senior Research Associate at the Division of Health Policy at the New York Academy of Medicine (NYAM), where she began her collaboration with VNSNY on a study of racial disparities in hospice referrals at VNSNY. Dr Rosenfeld was also the Principal Investigator on a New York Community Trust funded study that examined work-life balance among mature, employed nurses with family caregiving responsibilities. This study received an Honorable Mention for the 2006 Susan B Anthony Award for Excellence in Research on Older Women given by the American Public Health Association.

While at NYAM, Dr Rosenfeld was co-PI on two other studies: one that assessed the availability of medical information for Limited English Proficient New Yorkers and the other identified successful strategies for retaining Registered Nurses in New York City hospitals. In addition, she developed a web-based database of research and public policy materials for the Center for Aging Policy, an advocacy project to promote the role of social workers in policy efforts to improve care for the elderly.

Prior to her tenure at NYAM, Dr Rosenfeld held a joint position at the NYU Division of Nursing and the NYUMC Department of Nursing where she conducted a wide range of evaluation and quality improvement studies on geriatric nursing practices, nursing educational models and hospital based nursing. During this period, Dr Rosenfeld conducted research on the emerging roles of Nurse Practitioners in acute care and long-term care settings, as well as collaborating on an information literacy/evidence-based practice model at both the academic and practice settings.
