Robert J. Rosati, Ph.D., Director of Research, Evaluation and Informatics, joined the Center for Home Care Policy & Research in September 2000. At the Center, Dr. Rosati is responsible for directing analysis and reporting of clinical outcomes for all patients served by the Visiting Nurse Service of NY. He works closely with senior management, quality improvement staff and other researchers to analyze and interpret clinical data. Part of his role is to also identify agency reporting needs and evaluate the reliability of source information. In addition, Dr. Rosati assists in the design and implementation of evaluation studies related to new program initiates throughout the agency. Dr. Rosati also created an Intranet website that allows all agency staff to have access to reports and analyses provided by the Outcomes group. This website has detailed information on patient demographics, quality and outcomes, referral sources and utilization data.

Dr. Rosati's research interests include factors that contribute to adverse events in home health care, medical errors, case mix adjustment and OASIS reliability. He has an interest in quality improvement methodology and is on the Editorial Board of the Journal for Healthcare Quality. Dr. Rosati is also on the faculty of Hofstra University, where he teaches courses in statistics and research design.

Prior to joining the Center, Dr. Rosati was the Director of Quality Management Systems for The Brooklyn Hospital Center. His responsibilities included designing quality improvement projects, managing a hospital-wide patient satisfaction survey, overseeing JCAHO compliance, evaluation of new programs and training staff. Dr. Rosati also developed a web-based system that provided decision support services to senior management and clinical leadership. In addition, he served on the Hospital's Institutional Review Board and conducted research in the areas of palliative care, family care giving and pediatric/childhood home health asthma education.

Dr. Rosati has been a research consultant to the National Center for Disabilities, New York State Department of Health, North Shore University Hospital, American Cancer Society and several large corporations. He is a member of the American Psychological Association, American Statistical Association, Academy for Health Services Research, National Association for Healthcare Quality and Society of Psychologists in Management.

Dr. Rosati received his doctorate from Hofstra University in Applied Research and Evaluation in Psychology. His training included an emphasis on research design, test and survey construction, psychometric theory, program evaluation techniques, computer programming and multivariate statistical analysis.
