Gil A. Maduro, Jr., Ph.D. joined the Center for Home Care Policy & Research as a Research Associate in November 2004. His research interests have focused on labor issues and aggregate economic activity with special emphasis on the accumulation of human capital. His techniques for modeling economic behavior are broad in scope, from labor decisions and saving behavior to the modeling of the life cycle of agents, where the accumulation of the health stock, as a form of human capital, is of central importance. He has extensive teaching experience in major institutions of higher learning in New York City including New York University and Hunter College. He is currently an adjunct assistant professor of economics at Baruch College where he teaches economics and statistics to both undergraduates and M.B.A. students.
Dr. Maduro possesses many years experience working as a counselor with inner city and immigrant populations for community based organizations. This has given him insights to the particular needs of these communities and the organizations that service them. He is also very interested in the inter-relationship between education and health outcomes in these populations. Dr. Maduro holds a Ph.D. in economics from the City University of New York Graduate School with specializations in econometrics and human resources (labor and health economics). He also has an M.S. in quantitative economics from Baruch College and a B.A. in mathematics from Hunter College.
