Joann Ahrens, M.P.A., Research Project Manager, joined the Center for Home Care Policy and Research in January 2002. She is currently managing a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation grant project, Information Brokering for Long-Term Care, which seeks to strengthen links between research-based data & information useful to policy makers and contribute to productive dialogue between researchers and policy makers.

In addition, Ms. Ahrens is managing a large Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ)-sponsored project on the work environment and patient safety that is examining the relationships between the organizational work place, the nursing work force, and preventable adverse events in the home health care setting.

Ms. Ahrens also facilitates the Center's communication strategy through increased internal and external publications.

Ms. Ahrens is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and received a Master of Public Administration degree with a concentration in health finance from New York University's Wagner School. Previously, Ms. Ahrens managed a variety of strategic, financial, and policy projects for the CEO of VNSNY. Before joining VNSNY, Ms. Ahrens was a consultant at William M. Mercer.
