Charitable Care
If anything embodies the spirit of the Visiting Nurse Service of New York, it is our commitment to providing care to people in our community who are in need.
In 1893, when VNSNY was founded, charitable care meant providing home health nursing to poor immigrants living in crowded tenements on the Lower East Side. In 2007, VNSNY provided $24 million in charitable care, including direct care to nearly 8,000 uninsured and underinsured New Yorkers with nowhere else to turn.
