Payment Options

When you or a loved one needs home health care, the last thing you want to worry about is how you’ll pay for it. At the Visiting Nurse Service of New York, we’ll work with you to determine your specific coverage and help you access the care that’s needed. We accept a variety of payment options and even offer health plans to some eligible New Yorkers. Following are some of the ways you may be able to pay for our services:

  • Medicare: a federally funded program, primarily for those 65 and older
  • Medicaid: a program funded by federal and state governments, primarily for those with limited resources and income
  • Private health insurance: employer-sponsored as well as individually-purchased insurance, managed care programs, and long-term care insurance
  • Private pay/out-of-pocket: using your own money to pay for services
  • Charitable Care: for those in need of care with no resources and who don’t qualify for other programs

Please note that Medicare and Medicaid have precise criteria that must be met for eligibility, and that there may be limits to what they and private insurance companies will cover.
