Even with regular physicals and check-ups, your doctor may not perform or order all the tests you’d like. Unless you are at risk for or show signs of developing osteoporosis, for example, your bone density may not be assessed.
The Visiting Nurse Service of New York conducts screening programs and health assessments in community settings. We perform many kinds of screening tests, including:
If VNSNY nurses detect anything of concern in your test results, they’ll refer you to the proper agency or work with your physician to make sure you get the follow-up care you need.
If you live in a Congregate Care setting and you have a health concern, you don’t need to wait for a health fair for an assessment. You can always speak to your on-site nurse, who can help you to get the tests you need as soon as possible.
