As part of our comprehensive VNSNY Hospice and Palliative Care program, VNSNY provides specialized services designed to help families cope with the loss of a loved one. Our bereavement counselors, social workers, and chaplains are available to help families and loved ones, including children, through this difficult time.
The VNSNY Hospice and Palliative Care bereavement staff offers a thirteen-month program for the families and loved ones of patients, following the patient's death. These services include one-on-one counseling, support groups, grief and loss presentations, literature mailings, and an annual Interfaith Memorial Service. This program also serves those who experienced a non-hospice death (such as a sudden or traumatic loss) through bereavement support groups and seminars that educate about loss.
To find a VNSNY bereavement support group near you, click on the link for the most recent VNSNY Bereavement Newsletter on the right-hand side of this page.
This program will examine the ethical issues and dilemmas that emerge at the end of life. Program interviews include Julia Quinlan, mother of Karen Ann Quinlan, Bill Colby, who represented the family of Nancy Cruzan before the Supreme Court and George Felos, attorney for Michael Shiavo, the husband of Terry Shiavo.
Date: Thursday, April 26
Time: 12:00 PM to 4:30 PM
Place: VNSNY Headquarters Auditorium, 107 East 70th Street, between Park and Lexington Avenues
