The Visiting Nurse Service of New York serves the needs of patients with advanced, life-limiting illnesses at our 25-bed VNSNY Haven Hospice Specialty Care Unit, located in a separate wing of Manhattan's Bellevue Hospital.
Patients at the VNSNY Haven are cared for by an interdisciplinary team that includes physicians who are certified in hospice and palliative medicine, nurses, nurse practitioners, social workers, spiritual care and bereavement counselors and volunteers.
The Haven provides specialized care when symptoms can not be managed at home, and is an alternative to short-term hospitalizations. Patients whose conditions require interventions to relieve pain, bleeding, seizures, respiratory distress, anxiety, nausea, vomiting or other symptoms, will receive skilled palliative care in a setting that promotes comfort, dignity and quality of life.
Within the warm, welcoming, and beautifully-designed facilities of the Haven, patients and families will find relief and comfort.
