Describing an uncurling fern, KORU is a Maori word used to symbolize new beginnings, growth and hope.
The KORU Hospice and Palliative Care Bereavement Program helps children and teens with the loss of a loved one by providing them and their families with a supportive and healing environment in which to grieve. Our suite of comprehensive family services encourages kids to participate in fun and creative activities that help them process their grief in healthy ways. Children who participate in KORU will also develop skills that nourish their strengths and learn positive ways of remembering their loved ones.
In addition to the support that KORU program participants receive from VNSNY staff and volunteers, they'll also have the opportunity to meet and interact with other bereaved families.
