Expansion News
We plan to continue building on the incredible response we have had in Washington Heights/Inwood
and are pleased to announce that membership will remain open to all. We are very excited about
continuing our work with existing partners and beginning new relationships with other organizations.
During the last few months, we have been meeting with key leaders from organizations on the Lower
East Side, and the response has been phenomenal. "This is just what the Chinese community needs,"
said a longstanding leader from Chinatown. "When can we sign on as members?" asked another leader.
Two agency leaders actually argued over who will take the lead on working with the TimeBank! The
model has resonated and excited so many people, and we are confident that the TimeBank will become a
force on the Lower East Side/Chinatown.
VNSNY plans to integrate the TimeBank into three exciting initiatives on the Lower East Side/Chinatown:
the Nurse Family Partnership program for first-time moms, the Chinatown Neighborhood Naturally Occurring
Retirement Community (NNORC) and Community Center for older adults, and the upcoming Hospice Residence.
We have already enrolled our first group of TimeBank members, including community leaders from the
Chinese Community Social Service and Health Council.
Plus, we are planning to launch a third TimeBank hub in 2008 in Brooklyn or Queens.
Know anyone who might want to join the TimeBank as a member, organization or business partner?
Please contact us. We’d love to discuss the possibilities!
