Bronx Fatherhood Program

The Bronx Fatherhood Program (BFP) is designed to help young fathers become more involved in their children’s lives. While being a successful father isn’t easy at any age, it’s particularly difficult for a young man living in the city.

At the Bronx Fatherhood Program, we aim to help young fathers understand the important role a father plays in his child’s life and that being a successful father means being a responsible father. We provide the emotional support a new father needs so that he can accept the responsibility of fatherhood—and enjoy the rewards.

Our mission is to ensure that every father who wants to be actively involved in his child’s life gets the chance to do so. We work with young fathers to show them that they are not just financial providers; they are nurturers as well. We help them to understand how important it is to work collaboratively with their child’s mother to raise the child. We also offer ways to improve a father’s communications skills so he can communicate better with the mother and the child. Plus, we help fathers set and achieve personal and professional goals for themselves, so they can become positive role models for their children and stay actively engaged in all aspects of their children’s education and care.

To be eligible for the Bronx Fatherhood Program, you must be:
1) Between 16 and 24 years of age
2) A non-custodial father
3) Living in the Bronx in Community Districts 1, 4, 5, or 9
