About Phyllis Stoffman, B.A., B.S.N., M.H.Sc.

Phyllis Stoffman was born and raised in Vancouver, Canada. She was educated at the University of California at Berkeley, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in history. She later received a Bachelor of Science degree with honors in nursing from the University of British Columbia and a Master of Health Science degree in health administration from the University of Toronto.

Ms. Stoffman has been an infection Control Practitioner at large pediatric and adult teaching hospitals in both the U.S. and Canada. She also has many years of nursing and management experience in community health and primary care in both New York City and Philadelphia.

For many years, she was a public health nurse with the Visiting Nurse Service of New York in the neighborhoods and housing projects of Queens and as an education coordinator for field nurses.

More recently, Ms. Stoffman served in the U.S. Peace Corps. She was assigned to the Ministry of Health in Dominica, West Indies; and worked with the community health nurses and the national epidemiologist. She is now based in New York City.

Any profits from the book will be invested back into the community through VNSNY's Charitable Care program.
