LPN CONTACT SCHOOL INFORMATION

To prepare for the Licensed Practical Nursing licensure, it takes 10-18 months of school (depending on whether it is a full-time or part-time program).

Below is a list of schools that prepare students for the LPN licensure

 

Bronx Community College Practical Nursing Program

This program is 18 months long involving 3 semesters of pre-clinical courses scheduled 3 evenings and every Saturday per week. In addition, there is a summer attendance done on a part-time evening basis. Application for financial aid is offered through the college. The applicant must apply for admission to Bronx Community College and then can apply for the LPN program at any time when registration is offered at the college. Classes begin in September. In addition to a high school diploma or a GED, there are certain other requirements (such as the college math and english admission test and a NLN pre-nursing exam) that must be completed before starting the LPN program. A certificate is given upon completion of the program and the candidate is then eligible to take the state-board exam.**

Brooklyn Adult Learning Center Practical Nursing Program

This program is only 10 months long but requires full-time attendance. Classes are given Monday through Fridays, 9am-5pm. It is a state-funded program but some expenses are out of the student pocket. A high school diploma or GED is required. Applications are accepted only in the first 3 weeks of December with classes beginning September of the following year. On completion of the program, a certificate is granted and the candidate is then eligible for the LPN state-board exam.**

Hostos Community College Practical Nursing Program

This program is 11 months long, full-time Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm. Application for financial aid is offered through the college. The applicant may be eligible for scholarships. Application for the LPN program is accepted throughout the year. Classes begin in January. Manhattan Adult Learning Center Practical Nursing Program


This program is mostly offered on a full-time basis, Monday through Friday from 9am to 4pm for 10 months. 1199 union members have the option of attending the program on a part-time basis for 2 years. The part-time schedule is Tuesday and Thursday from 5pm to 9pm and every Saturday from 9am to 4pm. This is a state-funded program but some expenses are out of the student pocket. A high school diploma or GED and completion of the C-NET (math and english test) is required to enroll in the LPN program. Applications for the program are accepted in December with classes beginning the following September. On completion of the program, the student is issued a certificate and is then eligible to take the LPN state-board exam.**

Medgar Evers College Practical Nursing Program

This program is given full-time, Monday through Friday for 18 months. Class hours depend on when courses are offered each semester. The clinical courses are given 3 days per week. Financial aid application is available. A high school diploma or GED is required. In addition, the applicant has to take the CUNY college entrance test and the NLN pre-nursing test (offered only in October or November of each year) prior to enrolling in the LPN program. Applications are accepted by October 1st, with classes starting in January each year. On completion of the LPN program, the candidate is given a certificate and is then eligible for the state-board exam.**

Nassau VEEB PN Program

This program is 11 months long, Monday through Friday from 8am to 1pm. Tuition assistance is available to applicants who qualify after meeting the requirements of the Financial Aid Office. Application for the LPN program is accepted in February and classes begin in September. A high school diploma or GED is required prior to enrolling. Upon successful completion of the program, the graduate is given a certificate and is then eligible to take the LPN state-board exam.**

Southern Westchester BOCES Practical Nursing Program

Starting in September and ending in June, the LPN program at Southern Westchester requires 10 months of full-time attendance. Financial aid application is offered. Applications are accepted throughout the year. To enroll, a high school diploma or a GED is necessary. Prior to entering the LPN program, the applicant must complete the CNET(math and english test) entrance exam that is given from January to July. Upon sucessful completion of the program, the graduate is given a certificate and is then eligible to take the LPN state-board exam.**

Westchester Community College PN Program

This program can be taken part-time/days for 2 years or full-time/days for 1 year. Financial aid application is offered. Applications are accepted at the beginning of October through March 31st. The program starts in September. A high school diploma or GED is required. Also, the applicant must take the C-NET (math and english) entrance exam prior to being accepted into the program. Upon completion of the program, a certificate is granted and the candidate is then eligible to take the LPN state-board exam.**
