VISITING NURSE SERVICE SCHEDULES FREE FLU SHOTS AT COMMUNITY CENTERS IN FIVE BOROUGHS
The Visiting Nurse Service of New York (VNSNY) has scheduled free flu shots throughout New York City for residents over the age of 50, health care workers, and people at risk, including those with chronic asthma, HIV-AIDS, and diabetes. Flu shot clinics will be held beginning this week through early December.
The flu shot program is given in conjunction with the New York City Department of Health (DOH), which donates the flu vaccine. VNSNY supplies the nurses to administer the injections. This is the 14th year that VNSNY has teamed up with the DOH. VNSNY officials say that there is plenty of vaccine and no problems are anticipated.
The flu shots will be offered at senior centers, community facilities, and at apartment complexes that have high numbers of older residents. For exact times and locations, those interested are asked to call 311.
The Visiting Nurse Servide of New York also can provide flu shot programs in business settings through its Partner In Care division. For more information call 1-888-9-GET HELP (1-888-943-8435.)
