New private care services

When New Yorkers with private care needs request specific services, Marki Flannery listens carefully. "If we don't offer the service, I ask why not? And then we develop programs that meet the ever-changing needs of our customers," says Ms. Flannery, president of Partners in Care, a subsidiary of the Visiting Nurse Service of New York.

Partners in Care recently introduced a series of small but innovative programs for private care patients. One of the programs, A Time for Transitions, helps people adjust to a new life after their spouse passes away. Another new program meets the escalating demand for fertility drug injections from women trying to conceive.

Other breakthrough private care programs include:

Post Operative Procedure Services (P.O.P.S.) -- This program is specially designed for people who are about to undergo a medical or surgical procedure and will need additional care and support at home. A home health aide will help you get to and from the procedure and then provide you with the support and assistance you need when you're back at home. A registered nurse will also visit you at home and provide a nursing assessment. Learn more

Time Out for Parents -- The addition of a new baby can be a difficult adjustment for any family. Whether you're a new or experienced parent, a baby requires a lot of work. You have diaper changes (double the diaper changes if you have twins), feedings in the middle of the night, visits to the pediatrician... Time Out for Parents can provide you with a home health aide who is specially trained in the caring of newborns and young children. The home health aide will free you so you can have quality time with your other children, spouse, or just for yourself. Learn more

Some Time...For You -- If you have been caring for a family member and you need some Some Time...For Yourself, here's a safe, responsible solution. Some Time...For You enables a person who is taking care of a family member to have some much needed time off from caregiving. We offer a range of flexible programs that will assist you in feeling comfortable about leaving your loved one for an afternoon, a night, a weekend or for a week.
