The Home Care Research Initiative
aimed to improve the information available to address important questions in home care and long-term care. Specifically, the initiative supported research and synthesis activities designed to develop better information for allocating home and community care dollars, targeting services to those most likely to benefit from them, and improving service efficiency. Better information will mean that home care will be more appropriately financed and delivered, improving the health and wellbeing of those who need services.

Its activities were to:
  1. Support a set of primary research projects designed to address substantive and methodological gaps in policy relevant knowledge,

  2. Commission a series of papers designed to synthesize existing knowledge and advance the conceptual underpinnings of the field, and

  3. Synthesize, translate and disseminate research findings for the policy and research community.
