At VNSNY Hospice Care, our mission is to provide compassionate and skilled care to terminally ill patients and their families. Volunteers are the heart of hospice. They provide that extra level of care and comfort that makes all the difference to patients and families. Hospice volunteering is uniquely challenging and rewarding work. To visit with patients, potential voluntees must attend a twelve hour training. We offer trainings on weeknights and weekends to accommodate a variety of schedules.
A phone interview and pre-registration are required and help prospective volunteers understand the requirements for hospice volunteering. To get started, check out the training schedule and contact your borough's Volunteer Manager.
